January 2012 - Update:
Flaxen Flare - He has done exceptionally well over the winter and has grown into a big, strong horse. I think we are going to have a lot of fun with him this season and a race such as the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot could be right up his street - a reminder, there are three shares available in him.
Redact - Redact has done extremely well physically, has grown and put on weight. If all goes well with him over the next two months, he is likely to have his first run in one of the 2000 Guineas trials. The official handicapper has given him a rating of 109, 10lbs below the top rated two-year-old and 7 lbs higher than he was rated by Timeform after his run in the Mill Reef.
Tullius - He has enjoyed his break with Grace Muir, has matured and is set for an exciting season under the care of his new handler, Andrew Balding. Now a four-year-old, he will benefit by finding it much easier to get into the big handicaps. He has come up considerably in the weights, but can overcome that if he continues to improve. A race like the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot should not be beyond him.
Two-Year-Olds (in 2012)
Fonseca (Red Clubs) - She has grown into a tall and very imposing filly. Given her size we are giving her a little more time before going into full training at Kingsclere in the early spring - she will be one worth waiting for.
Daylight (Firebreak) - He is now at Kingsclere and has quickly settled into his new surroundings. He is going to be early, but he has also done a bit more growing, so just how early it's hard to say at the moment, although he did look quite forward.
The Gatling Boy (Tamayuz) - This colt is a superb, easy mover. He's not small and has quite long pasterns but the yard is of the opinion that it won't take long to get him onto the racecourse.
The Annual Oriental Club Winter Lunch - Our superb annual lunch takes place again on Wednesday 29 February.
